Overview

Formed as a summer retreat by Lord Dalhousie in 1850, Dalhousie is a gem of a hill station situated in the western part of Himachal Pradesh. The scenic beauty of Dalhousie provides a spectacular view to the sore eyes. With pine-clad mountain ranges to dense forests, Dalhousie has become a major tourist attraction over the years. The panoramic views of forests, waterfalls and River Ravi overlooking the Dhauladhar ranges present a picturesque landscape. It boasts beautiful colonial-era buildings and architecture with a tinge of Tibetan culture in it.

Tourists can visit the famous St Andrew Church, St Patrick Church, and St Francis Church, reminiscing about the British era. Freedom fighter of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, was attracted to the healing hill station of Dalhousie and stayed there meditating for months. Due to this reason, sanctuary Subhash Boali and Subhash chowk places are named after him. Head upwards to the adventurous trek in beautiful Dainkund peak and Mini Switzerland, Kajjiar. Shop at the local Mall road and take back Tibetan souvenirs for your loved ones. As it is a hill station, winter and spring is the best time to visit. Summers can sometimes be a little hot, so plan the tour accordingly.

How To Reach

By Air: The nearest airport is around 10 km away, in Bhuntar, from Manali town. The booked cab will come there to pick you from the airport. Or Else, you can even board a cab from Delhi or Chandigarh Airport.

By Train: Around 100 km away from Manali town, the nearest railway station lies in Jogindernagar. If you wish, hired can pick from Delhi, Chandigarh, Ambala or Kalka railway stations even.
