The spiritual capital of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, is situated on the Dhauladhar mountain range in the Kangra district. The beautiful city is majorly divided into two parts- Lower Dharamshala and Upper Dharamshala. Lower Dharamshala has a modern touch with commercialized markets and great infrastructure, while Upper Dharamshala has Mckleodganj, the abode of his highness, Dalai Lama. The Tibetan Buddhist culture can be seen dominating the upper Dharamshala. Tourists can explore the town of Mckleodganj, Tibetian art and craft, a monastery called Namgyal Gompa, and indulge in local Tibetan food. Then you can head towards the Kotwali Bazaar, where visitors can visit the Kangra Art museum and Bhagsunang temple. There is a waterfall beside the temple that has crystal clear water.
While in Dharamshala, witness the Japanese-styled gardens and Tibetan architecture at Norbulinka Institute. There are various sacred Hindu temples to offer prayers to in Dharamshala, such as Chamunda Devi temple, Kunal pathri temple, Indru nag temple, and more. Take advantage of the visit to the famous Dharamshala cricket stadium. It provides the quaint feeling of being nestled around the scenic beauty of mountain ranges. The best time to unwind and relax at Dharamshala would be in the early winters and summers. The cool climate, bamboo and pine trees set against the snow-covered mountain ranges are a real treat to the eyes.
